With the situation of things now it is almost difficult to preach the gospel of today, communicating with all sincerity the message it carries. Following the harsh reality of hunger and deprivation of daily needs many may find it repugnant to hear something that sounds like “pay less attention to material food and focus more on Jesus the bread of life.” However, no matter how we chase the earthly food that lasts for a moment, let us not miss the “food” that sustains beyond space and time. The Jews asks for more signs of manna. Jesus redirects their focus to a deeper truth—the Bread of Life. We often crave things that provide temporary satisfaction – achievements, possessions, or even religious rituals. These are like manna – they fill a void but leave us wanting more. Jesus offers a permanent solution. He is the source of true fulfillment, the one who can satisfy our deepest longings.
Living beyond manna means recognizing that our deepest needs aren’t met by temporary solutions. We crave purpose, connection, and a sense of purpose that material things can’t provide. Jesus offers Himself as the answer – the bread of life that satisfies our deepest longings.
LET US PRAY
Thank you Father for the provision you constantly shower upon us. Forgive us for mistaking temporary bread for true fulfillment. Open our hearts to receive Jesus, the bread of life.
